Hiring and onboarding FAQs
No, I'm not a recruiting or staffing agency, and I don't fill roles for you the way an agency does. I design your hiring process and help you run it: job descriptions, postings, interview structure, candidate evaluation, hiring manager training and onboarding. You end up with a process your team owns, and it keeps working after the first hire.
It starts with a conversation about the roles you need and how you hire today. From there, I fix what's getting in the way, whether that's a vague job description, interviews that feel different every time, or a new hire who shows up to an empty desk. You can work with me Project-based, Hourly or through a Monthly partnership, depending on how much help you want, so let's talk.
I work with several behavioral and talent assessment tools, so the right one depends on the role, the business, and what you want to learn about a candidate. I help you choose an assessment that fits your hiring goals, implement it consistently, and understand what the results can and cannot tell you.
Assessments are one piece of the hiring process, not the whole decision. I help you use the results alongside interviews, experience, references, and other relevant information to make a more informed hiring decision.
A good program covers the first day, the first weeks and the first few months. At a minimum, that means paperwork handled before day one, a clear welcome and orientation, training for the role, a named person to go to, and regular check-ins so small problems don't turn into resignations. The rest depends on the job and the size of your team.
Longer than most people expect. Orientation may take a day or two, but onboarding typically runs through the first 90 days, and for some roles longer. I usually build it as a first 90-day framework with check-ins along the way, then adjust it to the role.
A few forms come up with almost every hire. Form I-9 comes first: according to USCIS, the new hire completes Section 1 no later than their first day of employment, and you complete Section 2 within 3 business days of their first day of work for pay. For tax withholding, there's the federal Form W-4, plus Colorado's Form DR 0004, which is optional for the new hire; if they don't fill it out, their Colorado withholding is figured from their W-4. You also generally report the new hire to the state within 20 calendar days of the hire date, as the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment explains. Other forms may apply depending on your business, and I can support your onboarding paperwork so nothing gets missed.
I'm not a lawyer, and this isn't legal advice. When a question needs an employment attorney, I'll work with one on your behalf, so you're never handling it alone. The legal facts on this page were last checked in October 2026.
Hourly help is from $115/hr, depending on the type of work. A monthly partnership starts around $1,950/mo and scales with the support you need. Project work is scoped individually and quoted up front, so you know the investment before I start. Most handbook projects start around $900; a full rebuild costs more than an update. The first consultation is free.
